What is Gibraltar? A tiny rock, a country, or just a land?

Long story short.

  • You have to cross the airfield before entering Gibraltar and its runway extends into the sea
  • Only wild monkey population on the European continent (they either want food or bite you)
  • Vital military presence and position for Brits since the early 18th century
  • Shortest distance between Africa and Europe (14 km or 9 miles)
  • Atlas mountains (Africa) can be seen from Gibraltar
  • Even though it’s close to Spain there are British houses and red telephone boxes everywhere
  • More than 50km of tunnels were dug into the Rock of Gibraltar, so the government can hide there in case of some nuclear thingy
From the distance, it looked like a big rock.

The closer you come the better overview you had about the ‘island’ that actually is connected with Spain.

You cross the border wait for any plane (yes, you gotta cross the runway) and then you’re in Gibraltar.

Gibraltar is a British Overseas Territory and headland, on Spain’s south coast. It’s dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar, a 426m-high limestone ridge.

The only place in Europe where you can see wild monkeys.

How it was for me, check below!

As you can see the picture below, it looks like a massive rock!

Indeed it's, only 426 meter high.

I have never seen the following.

Before entering Gibraltar I had to cross the airfield.

Anyone, cars, pedestrians, cyclists, dogs, etc.

Whenever the plane is nearby the barrier just closes.

And yes, the big Boeing also lands there.

If you look closely you can see the airfield.

Gibraltars’ most popular viewpoints.

Gibraltar is the only place in Europe where you can see wild monkeys.

You shouldn’t pet or feed them. They can become aggressive.

If they become aggressive, just run. Otherwise, you will need to fight with the army of monkeys from different generations. LOL.

Gibraltar is not only about monkeys. It also served as a very strategic point during all wars.

Great Siege Tunnels.

With my cousin.

There were some cool caves.

Morroco, Africa in the background.

Only 18km separates Gibraltar and Africa.

On a good day with good visibility, the Atlas mountains can be seen from Gibraltar.

Someday I will take the Gibraltar picture from Africa.

If you managed this far, you can watch quick video moments from Gibraltar.
